ReTreat and ReTweet

Twitter, Tweets, ReTweets, TweetDeck, Twitpics, TwitPwr….the bird is everywhere! Only last November did a writer say ‘I don’t get it. Who is going to limit themselves to 140 characters? And why would they care what I am doing?” Twitter has now grown to a value of $43+ million in four months and we are all twittering away. So what is really the core of this? To me it is sound bites of conversation. Have you noticed that our computer has become the phone and the phone is now our computer? Only the Dell laptop doesn’t look too hot hanging from an earlobe! Like the video said ‘ everything is amazing and nobody is happy’. Well, you can twitter away all you want but it is still human contact that is most important. Video adds to the tech element but it is nothing like a touch, a handshake, a smile, and laughter together. So, while reading about Twitter – again!- the real truth is that you have to ReTweet. Engage. Chat. Respond. Repeat. Repeat, Repeat and Repeat. You can’t just post and expect to be part of the conversation. ReTweeting builds rapport, establishes mutual interest and then the personal contact follows. (Sounds like a blind date doesn’t it? And I have stories…) only “tell me about yourself” in 140 characters or less can be the challenge. So, you will find me on Twitter which feeds into Facebook and then onto LinkedIn. You can get to know me on many levels and my friends and what I like to do. Which I am going to write more about as my blog continues because if you want to RETREAT to Lake Geneva then you can always ReTweet while you are on the beach, or the boat or the pier, playing golf, swimming, sailing……and maybe it will be with new friends you just so happened to Twitter with.
