Mass Transit in Walworth County
Well what do you know… Walworth County has approved a three month trial period for a mass transit program! This trial transit program is intended to move both visitors and residents around Elkhorn, Delavan, Fontana , Williams Bay and Lake Geneva. The starting date will be May 22, and will run Fridays, Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The bus route will start in Elkhorn at Frank’s Plaza, stop at the Walworth County Visitors Bureau, then head to downtown Delevan, swing into Lake Lawn, move onto The Abby, stop at Yerkes Observatory entrance, then Edgewater Park in Williams Bay, the Lodge at Geneva Ridge (Interlaken), and then head to downtown Lake Geneva/The Rivera and out to the Grand Geneva. The round trip is anticipated to be one hour and the cost will be $1.00.
When going green is at the top of everyone’s mind I think Walworth County has motored in the right direction with creating this test run. This is a safe, easy and inexpensive way to travel around the Lakes area and it will provide a great opportunity for both our residents and visitors to get around. You can stop and shop in each area that the bus will travel and it should have an economic impact on our smaller downtowns.
There will be a press covered Inaugural Run on May 22, 2009 and you can contact Pam at the Visitors Bureau for more information. 1-262-723-3980
