Need Firewood?

Posted to

In Wisconsin there’s nothing like a fire on a cold winter’s day. At my house we have already used almost a face cord of wood & it’s only the middle of December. Last weekend, Sunday December 12th, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle declared a state of emergency for the entire state. Off the South Shore of Lake Geneva where I live, the weather didn’t seem that bad but when the Governor says it’s smarter to stay home, I listen & use it as an excuse to have a fire ALL day long. Underlying ice was an issue however when I shoveled my sidewalk & dragged in the remains of my back-up, outdoor wood pile – something I should have done earlier when the temperatures were higher. Didn’t it seem like the warm weather would go on forever?

With my stash now at a dangerously low level, I called Topples Tree Service first thing this morning. A very pleasant, real person answered and by 1 PM I had a new face cord of wood stacked neatly in my garage. Jim Kraemer, the owner of Topples & a certified arborist, made the delivery himself. He explained the variety of wood he provides, which was fascinating – I wish I had a tape recorder. Jim was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating and I’m sure I will be calling him again this winter.

Please use me as a reference for anything you may need in the Lake Geneva Area or visit my website LakeGenevaHomeFinder.com for suggestions of places to ski, hike and more.
