Fielding a Low Ball Offer on Your Home in the Lake Geneva WI Area Market

Posted to

“But This Offer is Too Low!” is a response realtors often hear from their sellers. While I always tell sellers and buyers that any offer is the start of a conversation, sometimes it’s difficult to release emotions from the mix and get down to business.

Walworth County, Wisconsin is seeing its share of foreclosures and REO sales and while this doesn’t mean that every sale is a fire sale, it certainly influences buyers’ perceptions about the market. Lakefront and lake rights properties in and around the Lake Geneva Wisconsin area have been affected to a certain extent by market conditions, as has almost every property category. However, highly desirable properties have been less affected and its unlikely a buyer will get “the deal of the century” on one of these prime residences. Sellers, on the other hand, should be mindful of how to deal with buyers who may initiate a serious offer with a very low offer.

Fielding the low ball offer in a reasonable manner can be the secret to selling your home. Whether you are a seller or a buyer remember that an offer means, “Hello” and how you respond can be the key to “locking” in that important sale.
