Real Estate Sales Statistics for Walworth County, Wisconsin

Since all real estate is “local,” I want to present some statistics about Walworth County, Wisconsin.  My previous blog put forth some cautiously optimistic information about the decline in nationwide foreclosures and mortgage delinquency rates for the 4^th quarter of 2010.

The following chart compares single-family and condominium sales in 2008, 2009, and 2010 in Walworth County.

While 4^th quarter closings were the lowest in 2008, median prices were the highest.  4^th quarter closings were the highest in 2009, yet prices were lowest.  2010 figures suggest an improvement in the number of sales, as well as the median price, both up from 2009.

For those buyers who have been looking for the “bottom” of the market, these figures seem to indicate it may be in the past.  For sellers, the number of sales and slight increase in price is good news.  This chart is one more cautiously optimistic indicator of the real estate market here in Walworth County.
