"I'd Rather Be Gardening" with Roy Diblik of Northwind Perennial Farm

Posted to

Northwind Perennial Farm is one of my favorite places to visit in Lake Geneva. There may be snow on the ground but it’s never too early to start planning your Spring/Summer outdoor projects. For inspiration & guidance there is no better place than Northwind. I first visited the property as a realtor when it was for sale, prior to the current owners purchase in 1991. Wow, what a transformation over the years. The site continues to evolve & blossom year after year, with new water features, ever changing plantings, garden art, frogs & farm animals. You can attend art fairs, gardening classes, purchase perennials, annuals, unique & rustic gifts or just stroll down paths winding thru one of the most beautiful parks you’ll ever visit. Conveniently located only 5 miles north of the City of Lake Geneva (see Lake Geneva map & satellite view).

Last year I had the pleasure of meeting Northwind’s Roy Diblik (The Perennial Persuader) at my office in Geneva National. I learned more from Roy in a 20 minute conversation than 10 books on horticulture. Those in Chicago have seen Roy’s work at the Lurie Garden at Millennium Park, recently the famous entry way of The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa & many other well known locations. While you’re waiting for the weather to warm enough for a trip to Northwind check out Roy’s book Small Perennial Gardens.
