Where to Launch your Boat on Lake Geneva

Posted to 365 Things to Do in Lake Geneva, Area Attractions & Events, Geneva Lake Area , Williams Bay, WI

As any old salt knows, boats belong in the water, but when the water is Geneva Lake and the boat in question doesn’t have a gorgeous pier to call “home,” then getting the boat in the water is the first order of business. There are several public launches on Geneva Lake in Linn, Lake Geneva, Williams Bay and Fontana. On the south shore of Geneva Lake, at the foot of Linn Pier Road, you’ll find the Linn boat launch. Often less crowded than the other launches, Linn is a good choice for those living or arriving from the south side of the lake. Heading east and north, you’ll find one of the busiest boat launches on the lake, the Lake Geneva boat launch located on Wrigley Drive just south of the Lake Geneva shopping district. The wait to launch a boat can be lengthy in this area, however, the good news is that you’re close to downtown and it’s easy to pick up lunch before you set sail. One of the more convenient boat launches is in Williams Bay, which even has limited parking available for your car and trailer. You’ll find the Williams Bay boat launch just east of downtown Williams Bay and the intersection of Hwy 67 and Geneva Street. Finally, the Fontana boat launch on Lake Street, may be one of the more difficult launches to navigate (no pun intended). The street is narrow and traffic is non-stop on weekends. The location is right, however, since it’s just a few feet away from the legendary Gordy’s – the perfect spot for a post-boating meal.

Fees for launching a boat are based upon the size of the boat and whether or not you are a resident. Season passes are available at the individual town or village halls, and cost ten times the daily fee. Current boat registration is required to purchase a season pass.

Of course, the best boat launch in town is the one on your private pier- and if you’re ready to trade your non-resident boat launch pass for a lakefront home, give me a call and I’ll be glad to help you find your little piece of paradise on Geneva Lake…complete with your own pier!
