Day 115 of 365 Things To Do in Lake Geneva, WI: Black Point Estate

Posted to 365 Things to Do in Lake Geneva, Area Attractions & Events, Geneva Lake Area

Here’s another enjoyable activity from 365 Things To Do in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Tour the only historic home on Geneva Lake that is open to the public. The Black Point Estate, a turn of the century Queen-Anne mansion was built in 1888 by Chicago brewing magnate Conrad Seipp. The 13 bedroom home contains one of the best remaining collections of Queen Anne furnishings and looks much as it did when it was deeded to the State of Wisconsin in 2005 by the last generation of the family. The State of Wisconsin now leases the property back to the Black Point Historic Preserve. The Preserve is a non-profit organization that manages the public tours using volunteers.

The home and its furnishings provide museum attendees with a complete and accurate picture of what life was like in Lake Geneva in the early 1900s.

Tours of the home and estate are available through the Lake Geneva Cruise Lines where you will arrive at the property by boat, just as it was accessed when it was originally built. New in 2011 are trolley tours, allowing you to arrive at the property by land. Tours are available through the middle of October.
