Minnesota wildfires

Posted to Rentals

If you’re in between northeastern Minnesota and the southeastern part of Wisconsin – look outside. Do you see a hazy and smoky skyline? If you go outside, do you smell smoke? It’s too early for the smell of burning leaves, isn’t’ it?

Wildfires, caused by lightening on August 18 near Ely, Minnesota, are what have caused the smoke smell and dreary skylines. Due to a mix of a strong cold front from Canada and unseasonably dry warm conditions the last few days, the fire has spread to more than 60,000 acres and carried the smoke as far south as Chicago, IL in the last day!

Airplanes and helicopters are being used to drop water to slow the spread of the fire; however, the air quality throughout Wisconsin over the next few days may be greatly affected. Depending on how soon the fire gets under control will depend on how soon the air quality improves. Small children and elderly with cardiac or respiratory issues should be extra cautious.
