How did you spend your last weekends of summer?

Posted to Area Attractions & Events, Rentals

Last weekend, 13 friends and I decided to go canoeing down the Fox River. It was a gorgeous day and with the planning all taken care of. All we needed to bring was our coolers packed with food and drinks so we could be on our way on our five-hour trip down stream. With the help of a party bus, transportation by First Choice Limousine’s and Tip A Canoe LLC, we were on our way down the river by 10:30 that Saturday morning.

The smells, sounds and sights were just breathtaking! The weather was beautiful with the sun shining and a light breeze coming through the trees and fields on each side of the river. The water temperature was perfect if our group decided to beach the canoes and swim a bit, splash the other canoes going down the river, or heaven forbid, tip a canoe! (What a great name for a canoe rental company!)

The delightful smells from the surrounding fields, trees, and wild flowers added to the peacefulness of the river. With colorful turtles, a few types and sizes of fish, a couple deer, at least 10 different types of birds - to include a bald eagle and even your average fisherman all in view, it reminded me of what summer is really all about!

The sounds of birds chirping, fish jumping out of the water warning others of the canoes coming down stream, the water trickling through the rocks in the river, and a breeze blowing through the trees, and the occasional sound of friends splashing one another reminded me of how relaxing nature can really be. When did life become so go, go, go?

Floating down the river in a canoe on a beautiful Wisconsin day with good friends beside me is definitely how I’ll spend many more weekends for summers to come.
