Side Trips from Lake Geneva, WI: Old World Wisconsin Offers A Glimpse of Christmas Past

Posted to Area Attractions & Events

Old World Wisconsin, located just 20 minutes north of Lake Geneva Wi in East Troy, Wisconsin is the perfect blend of history, culture, entertainment, and nostalgia. It’s an especially lovely place to visit during the Christmas holiday season. For example, during the first two weekends of December, visitors could learn about the origins of our most beloved Christmas traditions, such as storytelling and caroling in a 19th Century village crossroads created especially for this event. Next weekend, Old World Wisconsin will host Breakfast with Father Christmas. Breakfast will be served from 9:30am-12:30pm Saturday and Sunday in the Clausing Barn. It’s a delightful way to ring in the season with old fashioned magic. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and be sure to bring your camera for a picture with the jolly old elf himself! Short Drive in Lake Geneva Gives Your Christmas Spirit a Boost

Posted to Area Attractions & Events

A short drive off the main path of Lake Geneva holiday shopping lies a great visual and musical treat. The Grand Geneva’s Christmas in the Country is a illumination of over a million lights on 13 acres. (previous Playboy Club in Lake Geneva). Turn on the Christmas music in your vehicle and enjoy the meandering drive through a Winter Wonderland of lights featuring the 12 days of Christmas and magical holiday displays. One of the “Grandest” displays in the Midwest is in our backyard, Lake Geneva. The Grand Geneva offers many seasonal treats from Musicals, Gingerbread House Displays, Holiday Teas and live “Jingle Bell Jazz” in their lobby. Take a drive through or stop in for some Lake Geneva Christmas spirit.

Victorian Christmas near Lake Geneva WI

Posted to Area Attractions & Events

With all the buzz of what is happening in Lake Geneva for Christmas activities, I would hate to overlook a wonderfully romantic evening in Sharon, WI, just a little south and west of there! This will be the 15th annual Victorian Christmas starting at 6 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony. Stroll along the streets of Sharon with the local store owners dressed in Victorian regalia! You can have some roasted chestnuts served up from the town bum as he engages you in some infinite Bum wisdom! There are carolers, bell ringing, fresh cider, Kettle Corn, hot soups, dancers, actors and even a town crier to keep you entertained! The crème de la crème, and my favorite part of the evening is of course the Christmas parade! Make no mistake, this is no ordinary Christmas parade! As the street lights dim, and you see the glow of Horse drawn buggies lighting up the parade route, you are hooked forever on this wonderfully magical event! Each buggy is horse drawn, and lighted, by every kind of horse from ponies to Clydesdales. Each person is decked out in their finest Victorian clothes. The much anticipated moment of Santa bellowing his “Ho,Ho, Ho’s” and arriving in town will surely set you in the mood for the holidays! The restaurants open at 5 p.m., and the Victorian festivities begin sharply at 6! Mark your calendars for this coming Friday evening December 3rd. Located on Hwy 67 18 miles west of Lake Geneva.
