Green Ideas for Santa

With the holidays quickly approaching, I’ve been thinking that the best gift we can give our children and grand children is a healthy environment and a clean planet.
Here are some simple Green ideas for the holidays:
- Buy a decorative, potted pine tree to plant outside in the Spring.
- Save energy by using LED lights. If we all switched we could save a lot of electricity. There are many different lighting options now, even some that are solar powered.
- Consider recycled alternatives for gift wrapping including gift bags (preferably made from recycled paper) which can be easily reused again. Another idea is to paint or have the kids color on paper trash bags to make a really personal package.
- Use last years Christmas Cards to make gift tags for packages or buy plantable gift tags. Found at stores like Target and Walmart, plantable gift tags look have seeds inside and can be planted directly into soil.
- Consider rechargeable batteries. There are new USB Cell batteries that plug into the USB port of your computer to recharge.
- Gift cards are a great Green choice because the recipient can choose exactly what the need. No fuel wasted on returning gifts or waste on gift wrapping and boxes. Consider wrapping in a recycled Altoid tin.
Gifts from the heart and time spent with family and friends are the gifts I cherish most. I’m looking forward to relaxing by the fireplace with some eggnog and spending time with my teenage sons and all of my family. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!

Voted “The Best Agent of Lake Geneva 2008 & 2009!”
I am a lifelong resident of Walworth County and have had the pleasures of growing up in a small town and the Walworth County seat, Elkhorn Wisconsin. I have enjoyed life with a family second home in Twin Lakes and currently reside in a secluded country setting with 20 acres of hills and trees which has the potential to be a peaceful escape except when my teenage sons are enjoying their recreational activities which include 4 wheeling and motocross.
After 16 years of public service at the Walworth County Courthouse in various positions in the Sheriff’s Department, Clerk of Courts and District Attorney’s office, I decided to make a career change. I started in Real Estate 11 years ago as a licensed assistant and rather quickly realized that real estate was not only my career but a passion!
My love of people, knowledge of the area, and attention to detail through my legal background, gave me the skills to quickly become successful as a Realtor®.
I have continued to focus on technology and education and have a passion for the latest gadgets and web tools. I have also spent the past several years “Going Green”. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Preservation Homes, “The Green Builder” who has kept me abreast of the latest trends and benefits of Green building and am now exploring ways that we can all help the environment in our every day lives. In addition to my Sales and Brokers licenses, I have earned the following designations:
- GREEN – Sustainable Property Designation
- e-PRO – Internet Professional
- ABR – Accredited Buyer’s Representative
I am also a member of the following National and Local Organizations:
- Green REsource Council
- National Association Of Realtors
- Wisconsin Realtors Association
