Are You a First-time Home Buyer?

Posted to Janet Giovannetti

The good news is that I’m working with motivated buyers - they want to take advantage of the first-time home buyer tax credit. The bad news is, they are running out of time. He is being transferred and working very long hours on a high-profile project at work. She is viewing properties, but is having difficulty getting him to free up some time to make a decision.

In order to take advantage of the tax credit, home purchases must close by December 1, 2009. Under normal circumstances, it can take four to six weeks to negotiate an offer to purchase, process the bank documents and title work, and schedule a closing. December 1st is less than 10 weeks away, AND the Thanksgiving holiday occurs during the last week of November.

f you are a first-time home buyer, you need to make your offer NOW!

Contact me for more information about the first-time home buyer tax credit and available properties at 262/949-3570 or jangio@keeferealestate.com.

More Signs of Economic Recovery

Posted to Geneva Lake Area , Janet Giovannetti

Named for the color of its cover, the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book reports the economy is stabilizing. The report, released Wednesday, is the result of a survey of business contacts in the 12 Federal Reserve banking districts across the country.

While retail inventories and consumer spending remain relatively flat, inflation remains stable and hiring of temporary workers has increased slightly in some areas. Some economists are expecting economic growth through year-end, following four quarters of negative growth.

Optimism centers on in improvement in the manufacturing sector and residential real estate. This, along with historically low interest rates and statements by some economists that the recession may have ended in August is good news for both buyers and sellers - there are good values for qualified buyers and good buyers for value-priced properties; and cautious optimism for the economy in general.

Labor Day Holiday

Posted to Janet Giovannetti

This weekend kicks off the Big Ten College Football season and I have the privilege of performing the National Anthem at the Northwestern University football game this Saturday. It is a great honor, especially as it occurs on this Labor Day weekend, celebrating American workers’ contributions to the growth and prosperity of our country.

Marking the unofficial end of summer, for many this weekend may be the last time to enjoy summer activities with the family before the hectic schedules of school activities kick in. As we take time celebrate this weekend, let us also take time to be thankful for the fruits of our labors, the democracy that allows us to enjoy them, and confident in the future of our nation and its workers.
