Cold Temperatures bring Beautiful Ice Sculptures to Lake Geneva!

Posted to Rentals, Sharon Clark

Lake Geneva is hosting their 15th annual Winterfest and United States Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition. It is truly an honor to see these sculptures on display here by the shores of Lake Geneva. They are on display each year in the lawns of the Riviera in down town Lake Geneva. Each contestant gets a block of ice to start off with and has to design and sculpt each design. Working with the winter elements can be difficult as the wind chills in Wisconsin can reach temperatures of -20. Other years they have had to deal with the melting ice as the higher temperatures lingered as spring approached early!

Dining at Popeye’s Restaurant is a great way to stay warm and sneak a peak at the sculptures from across the street. Visit the classic diner at Speedo’s which is directly across the street from the competition on the corner of Wrigley Drive and Broad Street. Grab a coffee at Starbucks or Caribou and walk around to see the art work from an up-close and personal view. Winterfest weekend is scheduled for Friday the 5th through Sunday the 7th of February. Stop by before Winterfest weekend to sneak a peak at the action first hand. You will be amazed by the progress and craftsmanship of each piece.
